Emancipation is fine as hell – Stop the silent march

Every year in Germany, Christian fundamentalist opposers of pregnancy terminations gather at demonstrations to go public with their worldview. These demonstrations take, for example, place in Berlin and Münster. Since 2010, there’s also a mobilisation for so-called silent marches in Annaberg-Buchholz. Those are directed against everyone’s right of self-determination – but predominantly against the self-determination of those who can get pregnant.

Until last year, the CDL (Christian-democrates for life) organised the marches. They are part of the CDU and their stated aim is to fully criminalise pregnancy terminations not only in Germany, buy around the world.
This March, the organiser of the silent march changed and now it is a group called “right to live Saxony” (Lebensrecht Sachsen) – a change that makes the event more open to those people who support the same reactionary ideas, but who don’t understand themselves as religious or are affiliated with other parties. In consequence, the march is now especially suitable for supporters of the AFD.

Racist prejudices and the fear of a decline in values are on a rise. Christian fundamentalists tie in with widespread sexist and homophobic oppinions and make the atmosphere even worse. With their events, they fuel prejudices and hate – which makes protests even more important.

We won’t let anyone tell us whether we should (not) have kids or how many kids we have to have.
We won’t let anyone tell us how our relationships should look like, how we live, love and die.
Those are our lives, our bodies, our decisions!
For emancipation and self-determination!
Raise your voice – your body, your choice!
Be loud and creative!
Turning the silent march into a disaster!

Jam and open stage for women*

in cooperation with AZ Conni we organize the following event:

Open stage for all people who want to try things out for themselves like playing music, performing, learning, listening…

Most music genres are still male dominated. We want to break with this continuity and create a respectfull space where FLT* have the opportunity to perform on stage without any fear or pressure, without having to fit into a certain role model.

New Homepage

From now on we will use a new homepage. This page will be used as an archive for everything that happened before the new page.

No means no – for a reformation of §177 StGB

As the URA (Undogmatische Radikale Antifa Dresden – undogmatic radical antifa) already did, we want to call on everyone to support the petition of „Frauen für Frauen e.V. Leipzig“ (women for women Leipzig)! We‘re asking all of you to contribute to an amendment of the current rape legislation in Germany, so that the „Istanbul Convention“ can be implemented and so that people are liable to prosecution for sexual activities to which the others involved didn‘t consent.

Lecture „Gender and Capitalism – a love story“ in Rostock

Lecture „Geschlecht und Kapitalismus – eine Lovestory…“ (Gender and Capitalism: a love story) in German

As in any good soap opera, the relationship between patriarchal structures and bourgeois’ economy is a diverse and quite varied history. Despite their great age difference they have fallen in love with each other, shared work and home, grew up together – especially on their differences. We will look at some episodes and take a look at the current relationship status. And together we will make guesses: What will happen to both in the future? Are they going to be together until they‘ll die or it is just a temporary affair? Let’s develop the story a little bit further: How would a happy ending look – and does it actually affect the script? – Interest group e*skunks

The cafém on April 19th gives you the opportunity to take part in a self-defence training.
For this purpose, we invited Kathrin Bein, a professional trainer (WenDo Dresden, FMGZ Medea e.V.).

Topics of the training include awareness and body language, simple self-defence techniques, specific assertiveness exercises, reenacting scenarios and relaxation strategies; the aim is to reflect on and broaden one’s own opportunities of action.

Participation is free of charge,
but we‘d ask you to register beforehand – simply drop us an e-mail:
cafemdresden@riseup.net
Training is for girls (16+)/women/lesbians/trans.
Please bring comfortable clothes, sports shoes and (if possible) a roll mat.

Apart from the training, our monthly café takes place. You can drop in and visit us at the kosmotique between 2pm and 8pm. As usual, we’ll have a small brunch and you’re heartily invited to bring some food. Moreover,
there’ll be a small stall with zines, books and information, a children’s play corner and – most importantly – great people to hang out with.

Refugee Women* Meeting

[Deutsch]

Dear refugee women*,
Dear allies,
from now on, we would like to invite you to a regular. Over the last couple of weeks, we met and got to now each other. We had fun together, we danced and ate cake. We listened to each other. We’d like to offer you, the refugees, a space where you can talk and organise yourselves. We’d like to know what you need. We’d like to support you. Let’s meet every 1st and 3rd Wednesday. We meet at 6pm. We meet at the kosmotique, Martin-Luther-Straße 13. You can take the tram number 6, 11 and 13, Stop ‘Bautzner / Rothenburger Straße’ It’s only a small walk from there. Simply walk in the direction of ‘Bühlau’ (number 11 is going that way) and turn into the first street on the left. You can find the kosmotique after around 50metres on the left. We speak English, Spanish, Portuguese, Hebrew, French and German. During the last meetings, there was always one person who could translate from Tigrinya into German or English. There where also women who spoke Arabic. This was of great help. But if we don’t share any language, we still have hands and feet to talk. Feel free to invite your friends. Bring your children if you want.

cafém in March

Since the cafém in February didn‘t really take place as planned, we‘re showing the then already advertised movie at the 18th cafém on 15/03/15.

The movie is an intimate glimpse into the world of two jewish friends who live together in Berlin. Having survived the Holocaust and then stayed in Germany after the war, it is the food they cook together that they remember their childhoods, maintain a bond to each other and answer questions of heritage, memory and identity. As the film follows them through their daily lives, a portrait emerges of two women with a light sense of humor, vivid stories, and a deep fondness for good food. Created by Oma’s granddaughter Alexa, the film captures their ongoing struggle to retain a part of their past while remaining very much engaged in the present.

We want to warn in advance, that the movie has some fleshy scenes that might be too much for some people. But don’t be afraid, there wont be meat in the cafèm, instead we will have a delicious vegan buffet as always. You are welcome to bring some good stuff.
We‘re looking forward to spending a relaxed afternoon watching this movie with you.

There will also be a discussion about ‚religion and feminism‘ from 3pm. At this first meeting, we especially want to talk about fundamentalism and anti-feminism. A short talk has been prepared and we warmly invite you to join the discussion.
